The World is Not as Ugly as You Think

Soooooo I was watching a show today and there was a patient who had an eye transplant and her brain was all messed up she was having hallucinations, and her eyes weren't working right. Her doctor fixed it, and therefore fixing her eyes. She talked about how she used to be an architect before the transplant and after the transplant she became a teacher. She said that she didn't like how the world was. She described it as ugly, and said that the world is not something she wanted to see. Her doctor, however, told her that the world is not as ugly as she thinks it is. Sure, there are murders, robberies, people lie about stupid crap to try and make other people happy by only telling them what they want to hear but the world is not ugly. It holds so many pleasures, and happiness the only problem is people are so stuck on the sad and the bad that they don't bother to see the happiness that they are offered. People miss what's in front of them. They dwell on the bad and only the bad. But, if we didn't have bad and we didn't have sadness how could we know what is good and happy? We can't.

I used to think that in order to find happiness you had to make other people happy. I was wrong. The person that is most important is you. You have to make yourself happy BEFORE you can make other people; and "make" is the wrong word...it's more of enable. You can't MAKE anyone be happy. They have to choose that path themselves. Isn't it odd? Some people are so stuck on the bad for so long that they think they will never be happy without it? I used to be..am one of those people. I always thought think that if I made someone else happy then I would be too no matter what they asked me to do, no matter how stressful, or how painful I would do it so that they would be happy so that in turn I would be too but I was am wrong.

Don't make someone else happy because you want to be. People can't pull the trigger if you don't hand them the gun. (Lady Tip #154) There are so many role models out there. Take, for example, Adele. Just in the recent she won 6 of the most outstanding and highest grammies. She won those because she made herself happy which IN TURN made others happy because they could partake in what SHE LOVED! Singing. Some may not realize it but art is the very essence of who we are. It's everywhere and nowhere at the same time. It's the ONE THING that speaks through us all. Allow other people to be happy because you are. Allow them to be happy because they can enjoy what YOU love doing. Don't allow yourself to be happy by partaking in the wrong things. It doesn't work. It's not real happiness.

You know sometimes we just have to Stand Up! for our happiness and who we are. And, maybe, just maybe we can show other people that they can do the same and have the same.

If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you always got.

It's about time to take a stand. Be happy because you want to be, not because someone else wants you to be. The world isn't as ugly as you think. You just need to look at it a different way. Try it. You may find you like it. I go to Gig Harbor High School and I know that sometimes us students there don't have the highest performance in happiness (or kindness) but if we can do it. You can too. What do you got to lose?

-Stand Up!
